Many people were left confused about when they should return to the United Center for their second dose. The city is now having to call and email all those people.

One West Side resident realized he had 26 missed calls that had been forwarded from a hotline meant to book United Center vaccine appointments. "Presumably those people would like to get through to the hotline, so [it's] not great from that perspective."

Anyone who lives in the 60608, 60619, 60620, 60649 or 60652 ZIP codes can sign up at the United Center. People who sign up but don't live there will have their appointments canceled.

While all appointments were booked for the site's first week, some were left open for the future. Officials haven't yet said how to snag one of those spots, though.

A last-minute eligibility change frustrated many people — but the state said it was needed because too many appointments were going to non-Chicagoans.

Starting 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Illinois residents 65 and up can schedule an appointment. The United Center site will begin administering 6,000 shots daily on March 10.
