UPTOWN — Neighbors can hear from the candidates looking to become the next 46th Ward alderperson at a forum Thursday.

Candidates Angela Clay and Kim Walz will participate in a debate 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Abbey, 935 W. Wilson Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The debate is being co-hosted by Uptown United, the Uptown Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters of Chicago. It will be recorded and posted to Uptown United’s website by Friday, barring any technical difficulties.

Clay, a community organizer, and Walz, a former congressional aid and current Walgreens executive, are in a heated runoff race to replace retiring Ald. James Cappleman (46th).

The race is seeing big spending from outside groups, state election records show.

The runoff election is Tuesday.
