CALUMET HEIGHTS — The Licking Express, a Florida-based chain restaurant owned by hip hop producer DJ Khaled, is set to open a Calumet Heights location.

A manager from the Austin location, which opened in June 2019, told Block Club the South Side outpost is scheduled to open in the spring. The restaurant will take over the space formerly occupied by Harold’s Chicken Shack, 8827 S. Stony Island Ave.

Billed as “Miami-style soul food,” The Licking offers a variety of entrées, including fried (or grilled) lobster dinners, fried chicken and red velvet waffles, pigeon peas and rice, and fried conch, with prices ranging from $4.25 to $29.

The Calumet Heights location would be the second in Chicago and the seventh overall for the award-winning recording artist.
