UPTOWN — Stan’s Donuts & Coffee will open this week in Uptown, the northernmost city location for the local doughnut chain.
Stan’s will hold a grand opening 6 a.m. Saturday at 4611 N. Broadway, taking the corner storefront in the new-construction apartment building at Wilson Avenue and Broadway. It will be open 6 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.
The first 100 customers Saturday will have the opportunity to win free doughnuts for life. Each of the first 100 customers will receive a boxed doughnut, and the lucky person who receives the one golden doughnut will win the free lifetime supply, according to a Stan’s news release.
The first 100 customers also will get a free T-shirt, and the customer with the best doughnut costume will get a prize, among other giveaways planned for the grand opening.
Stan’s Uptown will have indoor and outdoor seating plus an all-day breakfast menu and coffee bar.
The shop confirmed plans to open in Uptown in February 2022, becoming the first retail tenant announced for the under-construction apartment building known as Platform 4611, which opened earlier this year.
Stan’s was founded in 1963 in Los Angeles and opened in Chicago in 2014, when local restaurateur Rich Labriola bought into the company. The Uptown location is the chain’s 12th standalone cafe, not including Stan’s kiosks in Mariano’s grocery stores.
Stan’s is not the only doughnut shop to open on Uptown’s Wilson Avenue. Downstate Donuts, which specializes in potato-based doughnuts, opened at 1132 W. Wilson Ave. in fall 2022.
