LAKEVIEW — Candidates running to succeed Ald. James Cappleman in the 46th Ward will make their case during a forum Thursday in Lakeview.

The forum is 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Garden Court, 3750 N. Lake Shore Drive.

Laura Washington, a Tribune columnist and ABC7 political analyst, will moderate the forum with neighbor John McCarthy. Washington is also board president of Block Club.

The event is free, but anyone who does not live in the building must register in advance by emailing Sherry Holland at sholland@holland-consulting.com with the first and last names of all guests.

Residents can submit questions ahead of time into a locked box in the building’s mailroom by 9 a.m. Thursday.

Six candidates are running in the race to succeed Cappleman, who is retiring after three terms.

The candidates are scientist Marianne Lalonde, political organizer Angela Clay, former congressional aide Kim Walz, federal administrative judge Patrick Nagle, bartender Roushaunda Williams and real estate agent Michael Cortez.

The election is Feb. 28. If no candidate secures 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote earners will proceed to a runoff April 4. Early voting has already begun.

The 46th Ward includes much of Uptown and a portion of Lakeview East.
