CHICAGO — The city is hosting free flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics this week.

Flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines are available to anyone 6 months and older, according to a city news release. The bivalent COVID-19 booster shots, which better protect against the current most common variants, are also available for anyone 5 and older.

Walk-ins are welcome, but registering online ahead of time is encouraged.

The schedule:

  • 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at Greater Lawn Clinic, 4150 W. 55th St.
  • 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Uptown Clinic, 845 W. Wilson Ave.
  • 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Uptown Clinic, 845 W. Wilson Ave.
  • 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St.

The shots help protect people against common forms of flu and COVID-19.

Health officials are having to battle flu, COVID-19 and respiratory virus infections, with health care providers feeling the strain

The surge in cases could put “tremendous strain” on the city’s hospital system, health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady has said.
