WICKER PARK — Colectivo Coffee Roasters — an independently owned group from Milwaukee — will open its fifth Chicago area location on Friday in Wicker Park.
The nearly 3,000-square-foot, two-story cafe sits just north of Division Street at 1211 N. Damen Ave. Hours of operation will be 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. every day.
The cafe is Colectivo’s largest in Chicago, and was designed to feel like an “urban enclave,” said Scott Schwebel, the company’s vice president of marketing.
“The space manages to be tucked back just enough to feel like a real oasis, but close enough to the action to take in the neighborhood,” Schwebel said in a press release.
The Wicker Park location includes an outdoor patio as well as a secluded lounge with a fireplace. Upstairs, customers can sit at tables next to garage-style doors that roll up for fresh air and a view of bustling Damen Avenue.
In addition to Wicker Park being Colectivo’s largest Chicago location, it’s also where the company will debut several new vegan and plant-based options. Those include, but are not limited to, a sesame sweet potato bowl, a cauliflower banh mi and a “bloom latte” — a latte made with chamomile tea.
Colectivo was founded in Milwaukee in 1993. The company opened its first Chicago location two years ago, and currently operates 22 different shops in Wisconsin and Illinois. Locally, there are shops in Lincoln Park, Andersonville, Logan Square and Evanston.
