THE LOOP — Paczki Day is almost here, and there are dozens of Chicago bakeries serving up the sweet treat to help you celebrate.

Paczki are Polish doughnuts made with a bit of alcohol and rich flour. They’re typically filled with something sweet, like jam, chocolate or fruit, and topped with sugar or icing. They’re eaten on Fat Tuesday (otherwise known as Mardi Gras), which falls on March 5 this year.

Block Club Chicago has rounded up more than 50 bakeries, cafes and restaurants in the city where you can grab paczki.

But don’t forget to call ahead if you want to ensure you get your fill — major bakeries will likely be swamped and busy making tens of thousands of the sweet treat to keep up with demand.
