CHICAGO — Two rounds of spring storms are expected to sock Chicago Tuesday.

Rain and thunderstorms hit the city about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, with gusty winds and potential hail expected before a midday lull, and then a “scattered strong to severe” storm after 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Chances of thunderstorms are back again Wednesday afternoon, with severe storms possible again south of Interstate 80, according to the weather service.

“Active spring weather pattern continues, with rounds of thunderstorms today through Wednesday night. Some of these storms could be severe this afternoon, and again late Wednesday into Wednesday night,” according to the weather service. “Otherwise, it will remain warm into mid-week, before cooling late in the week.”

Temperatures will be in the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday before tapering off into the 50s and 60s Thursday.

Showers and thunderstorms are also possible Thursday, according to the weather service.

It’ll be mostly cloudy for the week, but sunny skies will come through Friday, which could see a daytime high of 59 degrees — and another chance of showers overnight.

Showers are expected again Saturday with a thunderstorm possible after 1 p.m., but the weekend looks to be clearing up from there, according to the weather service.
