LINCOLN SQUARE — Neighbors will get a chance to learn about a slew of major construction projects set to start this spring and summer during a community meeting hosted by Ald. Matt Martin’s (47th) office.

The 6 p.m. meeting Wednesday at Martyrs’, 3855 N. Lincoln Ave., will include information about recently completed projects as well as new construction that will impact commuters and neighbors, said Martin’s Chief of Staff Josh Mark.

Neighbors are being asked to RSVP using this form.

“Ald. Martin’s going do a presentation on what we’ve done over the last year in terms of pedestrian safety and bikes and what we’ve got coming this year,” Mark said.

During Martin’s tenure, he’s advocated for infrastructure that improves safety for cyclists and pedestrians, including the Leland Avenue Greenway, Leavitt Street Greenway and pedestrian crosswalks in North Center.

Last year, Martin pushed for the redesign of one of North Center’s busiest intersections — the six-way intersection at Irving Park Road, Lincoln Avenue and Damen Avenue — to add wider and more visible crosswalks, protected bike lanes and other safety upgrades. Construction on this project is expected to start this year.

There are also improvements coming to the Western Brown Line station and plaza this year, with some of the improvements being paid for by the Western Avenue North TIF district, which is set to expire at the end of the year.
