GRANT PARK — Summer in Chicago commenced over Memorial Day weekend with the second annual Sueños Music Festival.
The festival drew thousands of fans donning flags and vibrant attire as they sang, danced and celebrated Latino culture through music.
The star-studded lineup included legendary Wisin Y Yandel, Feid, El Alfa and Ivy Queen on Saturday, followed by Grupo Firme, Becky G, Myke Towers, and Nicky Jam on Sunday.
“The fact that we are filling up Grant Park, and celebrating our ancestors, celebrating our culture, celebrating our music in such a peaceful, positive way, it’s just one of the ways that we can contribute to the city,” South Side Latino organizer Berto Aguayo said at last year’s festival.
Sueños was the first in a slew of events to be held in Grant Park this summer. The NASCAR race will take to the streets in five weeks. Portions of the park will be closed in June and July for the race, which has raised the ire of some neighbors.
