UPTOWN — Wilco surprised its fans with three shows Sunday night at Carol’s Pub in Uptown, leading to a scramble to get coveted tickets to get into the small neighborhood bar.

Just after 11 a.m. Sunday, the Chicago-based band announced it would play a 7 p.m. show at Carol’s, 4659 N. Clark St., to celebrate the new album “Cruel Country.”

The pub was “the first place [that] came to mind” when the Chicago-based alternative band was considering where to celebrate their latest album, they wrote on Facebook

Fans rushed to line up for wristbands to get in, with a line stretching down Clark Street. Shows at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. were later added.
