UPTOWN — Wilco announced they’ll play two surprise shows Sunday night at Carol’s Pub in Uptown — and fans are already lined up around the block to get tickets.
Wilco posted Sunday they’ll play at 7 p.m. at Carol’s, 4659 N. Clark St., a small, late night country dive bar. Within minutes, the line stretched for more than two blocks — and was rapidly growing.
Soon after, the band said they’ll also play a 9 p.m. show. “As the great Ernie Banks once said ‘It’s a beautiful day – Let’s play two,'” the band tweeted.
The pub was “the first place [that] came to mind” when the Chicago-based alternative band was considering where to celebrate their latest album, Cruel Country, they wrote on Facebook.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and Wilco takes the stage at 7 p.m. The shows are 21+ and entry wristbands are $25.
Wristbands must be purchased in-person at the box office, which opened at noon. Each person in line can only buy two wristbands and they’ll be sold first come, first serve.
