WEST TOWN — West Fest Chicago will not return this summer.

The West Town Chamber of Commerce announced the cancellation of its popular July street festival in a Wednesday Facebook post.

“Given ongoing limitations, we’ve decided to cancel West Fest Chicago 2021 with plans to bring it back in all its glory (and then some) come July 2022,” the post said.

The chamber also canceled Do Division Street Fest, which typically takes place the weekend after Memorial Day and takes six to seven months to plan, Kara Salgado, West Town Chamber of Commerce director, said in April.

Meanwhile, the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce plans to bring back Wicker Park Fest at the end of July.

In lieu of Do Division Street Fest, the chamber planned an alternative event this weekend: The Division Street Summer Stroll

Shops and restaurants along Division Street between Ashland Avenue and Leavitt Street will offer a variety of specials and sales Saturday and Sunday.

Salgado said the West Town chamber is focused on making the 10th anniversary of the West Town Art Walk the “best it can be.” That event will take place in September.

The chamber has not yet made a decision about its Dancing In The Streets festival, which usually takes place later in the summer.
