ENGLEWOOD — Looking for some holiday fun this weekend? Growing Home’s WinterFest 2020 just might be the ticket.

The free “Give Back to the Wood” event, 5814 S. Wood St., will be held from 3 p.m.- 6 p.m. on Dec. 12.

Guests can receive fresh fruits and vegetables from the organization’s Englewood garden, along with food boxes, personal protective equipment, toys, and winter gear for kids and adults. All items are first come, first served.

There will also be plenty of family-friendly activities on deck, courtesy of Englewood’s T.H.U.G. Hippie Bus (a mobile arts and wellness center). Kids of all ages can make something at the arts and crafts station, take a festive picture in the holiday photo booth, or check out the Christmas Tree competition.

Winterfest will go on rain, snow or shine, organizers said. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed. If there is inclement weather, there will be a drive-through option on Honore Street. Directions to the event are on the organization’s website.

Growing Home, a nonprofit dedicated to providing employment opportunities in farming and agriculture, has operated their USDA-certified organic farm in Englewood since 2002.
