AUBURN GRESHAM — All-Star Weekend is upon us, and St. Sabina Church is getting into the spirit with a celebration of its own, with a little help from hometown heroes like Derrick Rose and Antoine Walker.

Both icons — along with NBA legend Bill Russell and director Spike Lee — will be joining Fr. Michael Pfleger for the Peace Tournament, a day-long basketball competition featuring teams from Englewood, Back of the Yards, Humboldt Park, and the West Side at St. Sabina, 7800 S. Racine Ave., Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Lee will also moderate a discussion with Russell after the tournament.

On Sunday at 11:15 a.m., the filmmaker will speak during church service for St. Sabina’s Black History Month celebration.

Both events are free and open to the public.
