LOGAN SQUARE — Logan Square’s Modern Cannabis, which launched recreational weed sales Jan. 1, was burglarized sometime early Monday, according to police.

Police responded to the burglary just after 8 a.m. Monday.

Officers were still on the scene as of 10 a.m., Chicago Police spokeswoman Kellie Bartoli said.

Modern Cannabis, or MOCA, is located at 2847 W. Fullerton Ave. Owner Danny Marks said cash was stolen, but no cannabis products were taken.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt,” Marks said. “We take security extremely seriously and have never experienced an incident like this since we first opened in 2016.”

Marks said the MOCA team was working with police and “investigations are ongoing.” He did not disclose how much cash was taken.

Modern Cannabis, like most of the marijuana dispensaries that began recreational sales on New Year’s day, hasn’t been able to keep up with the high demand for recreational product.

In an Instagram post, the dispensary said it was temporarily closed Monday morning “due to technical difficulties.”
