WICKER PARK — Club Pilates, a “reformer”-focused fitness studio, opened last week inside an expansive Wicker Park building that once housed Central Furniture Mart.
During a meeting of neighbors on Wednesday, Club Pilates assistant general manager Stephanie Orze explained the studio’s approach to group fitness, which includes the “rehabilitative” use of 12 spring-loaded reformers.
“Pilates being very core-focused, very rehabilitative, all about flexibility and core strength and balance,” she said. “Reformer being the piece of equipment that everyone’s scared of … but adds that extra challenge to keep your body challenged and progressing forward.”
Club Pilates offers free introductory classes six days a week, Orze said.
Club Pilates hours are 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.
“The idea of Club Pilates was founded on the idea of being accessible to people both financially as well as throughout their busy, busy schedules,” Orze said.
Club Pilates also has locations in North Center and Lincoln Park.
Located at 1348 N. Milwaukee Ave., the studio is part of a 27,000 square-foot building formerly occupied by Central Furniture Mart. (The family-owned business relocated to Humboldt Park in 2014.)
