BUCKTOWN — Chicago Police are investigating a Sunday morning assault on a 26-year-old woman who was able to fight off her attackers.

The woman was walking south along the 1600 block of North Damen Ave. at about 10:25 a.m. on Sunday when two men pushed her to the ground and tried to steal her belongings, police said.

One man punched the woman in the face. The woman punched one of the men in the “groin area,” and was able to protect her belongings from being stolen, police spokesperson Sally Brown said.

The men fled the scene in a green sedan. No one is in custody.
