WEST LOOP — A 47-year-old man was seriously injured after being hit with a metal object in West Loop, police said.
At 12:02 a.m. Saturday, a man and woman were standing in an alley in the 600 block of West Randolph Street when another man walked up and began hitting the 47-year-old with a metal object, said Kellie Bartoli, a spokeswoman with the Chicago Police Department.
After the incident, the man then fled westbound, Bartoli said.
The 47-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in serious condition, Bartoli said.
An argument over money may have led to the attack, police said, and the victim may have known the attacker.
No one is in custody and police are investigating.
