WRIGLEYVILLE — Big Star’s Wrigleyville location is starting a boozy brunch.

The 9,000-square-foot restaurant and bar, 3640 N. Clark St., will launch its first brunch this Sunday with a new menu of Mexican food and drinks. The Wrigleyville location is also now accepting reservations, a first for perennially busy Big Star.

“We love being on the North Side of Chicago and wanted to give the families and people in this neighborhood another good reason to get out of the house on the weekend,” said Paul Kahan, executive chef and partner, in a news release. “Your hangover doesn’t stand a chance here.”

The brunch menu will include new items like Chorizo Mulas with tortillas, scrambled eggs, pinto beans, salsa chipotle and chihuahua cheese; Carnitas Especial with guacasalsa, onion and a fried egg on a baked cemita roll; and Avocado Huarache, a masa cake with grilled queso adasero, crema and spicy salsa macha.

Fans of Big Star’s regular menu will also be able to order their favorites, like tacos and Hot Chips, but with eggs added.

Big Star’s bar will serve up Bloody Marias with Lunazul Blanco and signature cocktails like the Chipilo Spritz (mezcal, vermouth, Campari, Apologue Aronia, strawberry, lime and bubbles) and the Jalisco Sunrise (tequila, jasmine syrup, orange juice, lime and Off Color Wheat Ale). Mimosa lovers will be able to grab a flute of the beloved brunch drink, as well.

Kids will get a specialty brunch option, too: The “Little Star” Breakfast Basket will include a mini-torta made with scrambled eggs, black beans and chihuahua cheese along with chips, salsa roja and either limeade or horchata.

Brunch launches this Sunday. After that, brunch will run 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Reservations to the Wrigleyville Big Star can be made online.
