CHICAGO — A 71-year-old man with a Concealed Carry License shot a man who tried to break into his home Thursday morning, police said.

At 10:47 a.m., the 71-year-old man was at his home in the 8700 block of South Euclid Avenue when a 29-year-old man tried to break in, police said. The older man, who has a license for concealed carry, shot the younger man.

The younger man was hit in his hand and was detained until officers arrived, police said. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

Charges were pending against the younger man, police said.
