WICKER PARK — Fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant CAVA is opening a Wicker Park location Friday, its first in Illinois as the company continues a large-scale expansion.

CAVA is moving into 1484 N. Milwaukee Ave., previously home to a Native Foods Cafe.

CAVA’s menu includes bowls and pita sandwiches with a variety of Mediterranean ingredients and flavors. The Wicker Park location will include a 30-seat dining room and an expanded kitchen for catering orders, according to the news release. Local artist Alyssa Low has been commissioned to paint an interior mural.

CAVA Wicker Park will be open 10:45 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

Founded in the Washington, D.C., area, the restaurant chain has grown rapidly in recent years. CAVA leaders hope to open 1,000 locations by 2032, according to a news release. The Wicker Park location will the company’s 325th restaurant across 25 states and Washington, D.C.

“Our success in new and existing markets demonstrates the power of our category-defining Mediterranean concept,” CAVA CEO Brett Schulman said in a statement. “We are excited to bring CAVA to the upper Midwest and, as we welcome Chicagoans to our table, we look forward to becoming part of the community and delivering on our mission of bringing heart, health, and humanity to food.”
