FULTON MARKET — A popular fast-food chain specializing in chicken fingers is in talks to take over the former home of Little Goat Diner in Fulton Market, according to a report from Crain’s.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, a Louisana-based chain, is working on a deal to lease the storefront at 820 W. Randolph St. A company spokesperson confirmed to Crain’s Tuesday that there’s “a deal moving through our process, but it is still very early to share timeline or anything involving the lease.”

Raising Cane’s opened its flagship Chicago restaurant on Michigan Avenue last year and has two other locations in the city, near Wrigley Field and Loyola University in Rogers Park. The chain announced plans in January to open a store with a drive-thru on the border of Roscoe Village and Avondale, which was met with resistance from some neighbors and Ald. Matt Martin (47th).

Raising Cane’s food menu consists of chicken fingers, fries, a chicken finger sandwich, coleslaw and Texas toast. The fast-food spot would stand in stark contrast to the trendy, upscale restaurants like Nobu, Girl & The Goat and Momotaro in and around Randolph Street’s “Restaurant Row.”

Little Goat Diner, launched by celebrity chef Stephanie Izard, announced its departure from the West Loop in 2022, relocating to Lakeview after a decade in the neighborhood.

Boka Restaurant Group, the hospitality group behind Little Goat and its affiliate restaurants, owns the Randolph Street building, according to Crain’s.
