OLD TOWN — Fans of the popular Australian kids show “Bluey” can step into the beloved dog’s home with an immersive pop-up coming to Chicago next month — and tickets are quickly selling out.
“Bluey,” an International Emmy Award-winning show by Australian animator and writer Joe Brumm, follows the story of an animated dog named Bluey Heeler and her family. The show is collaborating with kids store and experience center CAMP Chicago for Bluey X CAMP, which opens May 24 at 647 W. North Ave. It runs through Sept. 28.
Tickets start at $39 online for a 50-minute session. They’ve been going fast.
The event allows Chicagoans to step into a recreation of the Heeler family’s home and meet fan-favorite characters Bluey and younger sister, Bingo. Tucked away behind CAMP’s “Magic Door,” visitors will find a 5,000-square-foot recreation of Bluey’s house where they can run around and play games from the show, like Magic Asparagus and Keepy Uppy.
The pop-up is geared toward 3- to 8-year-old kids, families and fans of the show “regardless of age,” according to CAMP’s website.
Groups of up to 25 people will enter the pop-up every 15 minutes. Attendees are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their time slot Monday-Thursday and 30 minutes before Friday-Sunday.
CAMP staff will be on hand to organize games, dance parties, crafts and more during the pop-up, and attendees can follow their lead or explore on their own.
There will also be a short “Bluey” animation played at the end and a chance to meet Bluey and Bingo and “take pictures with them or tell them a joke.”
The pop-up has been held at other CAMP stores around the United States, including in Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City.
