HUMBOLDT PARK — Steingold’s of Chicago, a popular bagel cafe and deli, has expanded to Humboldt Park.

The deli’s Humboldt Park bakehouse is open Friday-Sunday for takeout at 2939 W. Grand Ave., with expanded hours and days coming soon, said owner Aaron Steingold.

Steingold and his team have been baking out of the Humboldt Park location for almost a year, and they finally had the bandwidth to open it for takeout orders, he said.

“We’re excited to be open in the neighborhood and have a lot of friends that live there,” Steingold said. “We’re psyched to offer some goods further west.”

The bakehouse, which soft opened last week, does not have indoor seating, but picnic tables will be added in the parking lot for outdoor seating when the weather is nicer, Steingold said. Food trucks will be in the parking lot on the weekends.

The bakehouse offers the same classic Jewish sandwiches and bagels found at Steingold’s Lakeview cafe. Items specific to the Humboldt Park location include a hot stuffed breakfast challah bun with egg, cheese, bacon and pastrami.

The bakehouse also sells baked goods along with cream cheeses, jams, salted honey butter and other gourmet spreads.

More items will be added to the menu as the business gets going, Steingold said.

Humboldt Parkers can expect colorful signs to show up in the coming weeks, Steingold said. Delivery will be available in two weeks.

“For now, it’s open Friday through Sunday, but we hope to open more for the people who work at the Metra, the early morning climbers at First Ascent and parents at the Montessori School,” Steingold said.

Steingold’s opened in 2017 in Irving Park and moved to 3737 N. Southport Ave. in Lakeview in 2021, expanding into the adjacent storefront near the Music Box Theatre. A Wrigleyville cafe is set to open in May, Steingold said.

The Humboldt Park bakehouse is open 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday-Sunday or until items sell out.
