LINCOLN SQUARE — Penn and Teller will drop by Lincoln Square’s Sideshow Gelato ahead of their show at the Chicago Theatre next month — and neighbors can score free tickets this weekend.

Sideshow Gelato, 4819 N. Western Ave., will host the magician duo for a free appearance 7 p.m. Oct. 5, owner Jay Bliznick said.

The gelato shop is giving away 50 free tickets for the show, Bliznick said. Here’s how to land one:

You can attend Spidora Bingo at the shop at 7 p.m. Friday where a pair of tickets will be one of the prizes.

You can also sign up for Sideshow Gelato’s newsletter by Friday, and buy tickets for the 7 p.m. Saturday Grudge Match of the Century show at the shop. The first 20 people at Saturday’s event who show Bliznick an email confirmation they subscribed to the newsletter will get a free ticket for the Penn and Teller show.

One ticket will be given out per person, and staff will be checking IDs at will-call, so one person with multiple emails will still only get one ticket for the Penn and Teller event, he said.

After Saturday, the remaining free tickets will be given away to email newsletter subscribers, Bliznick said.

“We’ll be sending out an email to all our subscribers with a link to put in a request for the remaining free tickets for Penn and Teller,” Bliznick said. “And we’re just going to do go down the line, first come, first served until we’ve exhausted all the tickets.”

Bliznick opened his sideshow and dime museum themed gelato shop with magic acts earlier this year. The shop has the backing of Jillette thanks to Bliznick creating custom vegan gelato for the magician.

After tasting Bliznick’s gelato, the world-famous magician raved about them on his “Penn’s Sunday School” podcast and invested in the business, Bliznick said.

Since then, a considerable amount of Sideshow Gelato flavors have been sent to Las Vegas for Jillette and his friends, allowing Bliznick to pursue his dream of opening a gelato spot in Lincoln Square, Bliznick said.

When Penn and Teller visit Sideshow Gelato, it’ll be to help promote their show the following night at the Chicago Theatre, Bliznick said. The owner also will have two pairs of tickets to give out for the duo’s Oct. 6 show, he said.

In addition to Penn And Teller, the Sideshow Gelato event will also feature a sneak peek at upcoming residencies at the shop, including the upcoming theatrical collaboration between Sideshow Gelato and the Prop Theater, Bliznick said.

Welcome To Fun” will feature magician Dylan Snow and sideshow performer Cassidy Rose in a deadly game of one-upmanship, promising to mesmerize and astound the audience, Bliznick said.

Also featured will be upcoming shows including Thom Brittan’s long running “Freakshow & Tell” as well as Sideshow Gelato’s ongoing Saturday Sideshow, he said.
