CHICAGO — More than 613,000 Chicagoans cast ballots in the April 4 election to decide the city’s next mayor.

The Chicago Board of Election Commissioners met Wednesday to declare the final proclamation of results — the fancy way of saying all votes that will be counted have been and the results are final.

In all, the city saw 613,795 votes cast, making for a turnout of 38.67 percent, according to the election results. That was the most ballots cast in a municipal election since Feb. 23, 1999, when more than 623,000 ballots were cast.
