SOUTH LOOP — Lips, a South Loop restaurant that highlights drag, is marking two years in business this week with new and reimagined performances — and new cast members gracing its glamorous stage.

It’s all part of the restaurant’s reopening, as it has been closed for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The restaurant and bar’s drag queen performers and servers are looking forward to bringing back fun and exciting experiences, founder Yvonne Lamé.

“After nearly 18 tumultuous months, we are back and better than ever!” Lamé said.

Lips, 2229 S. Michigan Ave., will start weekly Bitchy Bingo rounds on Wednesday, hosted by rollerskating bartender Batty Davis.

A weekend of performances will follow from drag legends Mimi Marks, Mz. Ruff N’ Stuff, Shavonna B. Brooks and more.

Reservations can be made on the Lips Chicago website.
