LOGAN SQUARE — Suburban-based Ravinia Brewing is opening a taproom in Logan Square next month, joining a growing number of breweries in the neighborhood.
Ravinia’s Logan Square taproom at 2601 W. Diversey Ave. is set to open May 7, brewery officials announced Monday. It’s the brewery’s second outpost and its first in the city.
“The Highland Park, North Shore and Chicago communities have been so great to us for the past couple of years. They have helped us build a sense of community and vibrancy around our beers that we can’t wait to carry through to our new home in Logan Square,” co-owner Kris Walker said in a news release.
When it opens, Ravinia Brewing will be the latest addition to Logan Square’s flourishing craft beer scene; Marz Brewing just opened a taproom in the Margie’s Candies building at 1950 N. Milwaukee Ave. and Solemn Oath Brewery is opening at 2919 W. Armitage Ave. soon. Ravinia’s Logan Square taproom is also in close proximity to Maplewood Brewery & Distillery at 2717 N. Maplewood Ave. and Metropolitan Brewing at 3057 N. Rockwell St.

At Ravinia Logan Square, patrons can expect a dozen of Ravinia’s beers on draft along with limited-release offerings. The first release includes Casa de Guava, a Berliner Weisse made with guava.
The owners have enlisted chef Juan Carlos Bueno, who helped open Lagunitas Brewing’s taproom, to craft an “approachable” food menu with dishes like coconut curry shrimp tacos and fried ice cream.
The opening comes nearly two years after the Ravinia crew first started brewing beer out of the old Ale Syndicate spot. In that time, the team has transformed the space into a whimsical taproom with window swings, retractable garage doors and a “hidden” beer garden.
The opening is a stabilizer for a brewery that has bounced around since its founding in 2017. Ravinia Brewing’s founders tried to move into the old Finch Beer Co. spot on Montrose Avenue and then tried to open in suburban Highland Park, where three of the founders live, but both plans never came to fruition, according to the Tribune. The founders ended up opening a brewpub in the suburb, but it’s smaller than what they originally had planned.
Ravinia Brewing’s Logan Square taproom will open at 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday and at 11 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Brunch will be served on Saturdays and Sundays. Lunch and carryout service will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
