PILSEN — Music Box Theatre is keeping its annual tradition of screening Christmas movie classics this year by hosting drive-in sing-along shows.

The theater is partnering with ChiTown Movies Dec. 11–24 to screen “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “White Christmas” at the drive-in theater at 2342 S. Throop St. in Pilsen.

Each screening will begin with a pre-recorded sing-along with Santa Claus, the Music Box carolers and organist Dennis Scott. Viewers can sing along and watch the films from the comfort and safety of their cars.

The theaters will hold eight screenings up until Christmas Eve. Tickets cost $41 per car ($37 for Music Box members) and are on sale now.

Each car can have up to six people inside, and the gates to the drive-in open 30 minutes before showtime.

Music Box Theatre, which has pivoted to a virtual model amid the pandemic for people to watch their films from home, is also working on a “Stay-At-Home Sing-Along” that people will be able to rent beginning Dec. 11.

More information on Music Box’s “virtual cinema” can be found on the theater’s website.
