ANDERSONVILLE — Shopping in Andersonville this holiday season will support a business community in need — and might earn you a personal thank-you from Santa.

Santa won’t be making it to his usual meet-and-greets on Clark Street in Andersonville this season, but he will still pay visits — virtually — to those patronizing Andersonville shops.

The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Meet Santa on Zoom contest. A free virtual visit from Santa will be given to 10 contest participants, who must spend at least $35 at any Andersonville business to be eligible.

The contest will run through Dec. 4. To enter, fill out an online entry form. Winners will be selected at random Monday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 7.

Andersonville Christmas events are also being retooled to make them safer during the coronavirus pandemic.

There will be no holiday trolley during Small Business Saturday. Late Night Andersonville, when businesses remain open late on specific nights, will be more digitally oriented, and curbside pickup days will be held.

The chamber will host a virtual holiday variety hour on its social media channels 7 p.m. Dec. 13.

The St. Lucia Festival of Lights is an Andersonville tradition where Clark Street is awash in candlelight. The Swedish American Museum is still considering the feasibility of holding the event this year, which would take place Dec. 13, according to the chamber.
