BELMONT CRAGIN — Belmont Cragin residents can get their flu shots, pick up free household supplies, get referred to a doctor and more at a health and wellness fair Friday.

The fair is set for 3-6 p.m. Friday in Northwest Side Housing Center’s parking lot at 5233 W. Diversey Ave. It’s for residents seeking flu shots, coronavirus tests, medical advice and referrals.

Free coronavirus tests will be administered 11 a.m-5 p.m. Those getting tested must stay in the testing area.

Organizers will hand out baby formula, diapers and hygiene products like toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well as children’s books and toys. Masks and other protective supplies will be provided.

Neighbors will get the chance to enter to win two $100 Visa gift cards.

Northwest Side Housing Center has partnered with several organizations and local leaders on the fair, including Black Girls Break Bread, Cradles to Crayons, Rincon Family Services, Near North Health Service Corporation, Metropolitan Family Services, Walgreens, State Sen. Iris Martinez, State Sen. Omar Aquino, Ald. Felix Cardona Jr. (31st), County Commissioner Luis Arroyo Jr., State. Rep. Will Guzzardi and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Belmont Cragin, home to the city’s largest Latino population, has struggled with coronavirus since the start of the pandemic and cases in the neighborhood are climbing again.
