AUBURN GRESHAM — People in need because of the coronavirus pandemic can now get free boxes of food every Tuesday in Auburn Gresham.

The Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation and the Greater Chicago Food Depository will distribute the boxes to residents at 10 a.m. every Tuesday in the parking lot of the now-closed Save-A-Lot, 7408 S. Halsted St. The giveaways start May 12 and will continue through mid-June.

The boxes will contain shelf-stable products and produce. Residents have the option of driving up or walking up, and they are encouraged to bring a cart to carry their box home.

The giveaway is first come, first served until supplies last. Social distancing rules will be observed.
