GREEKTOWN — A three-day fest highlighting some of Greektown’s best eats will return to Halsted Street this weekend.

The 30th annual Taste of Greektown, staged between Van Buren and Adams streets on Halsted, will feature dishes and drinks from Greektown restaurants, a gyro eating contest, live music, activities for kids and more. The outdoor festival runs from 4-11 p.m. Friday and noon-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is free, but attendees will be asked to give an optional $5 donation when entering the fest. The donation benefits the Greektown Chamber of Commerce.

Ambassador Public House, Artopolis, Athena, Mr. Greek Gyros, 9 Muses Bar & Grill, Santorini, Spectrum Bar & Grill and Zeus Gyros are among the restaurants participating in this year’s fest.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, the fourth annual Gyro Eating contest, sponsored by Devanco Foods, will be open to people over the age of 21. The first eight people who sign up on-site between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. near the fest’s north stage will square off in the contest. 

The winner will get a $500 Visa gift card. The runner-up gets a $250 gift card.
