WICKER PARK — Division Street sports bar The Anthem is gone for good, owners say. But a new restaurant and bar will open in its place soon.
On Friday, The Anthem’s red and blue stars were replaced with neutral tones and the words, “Little victories … This is my happy place … Your new happy place … Coming soon.”
Earlier this week, Footman Hospitality President Jason Freiman confirmed a “late summer opening.”
“The team has completely re-imagined the space,” Freiman said in an email. “[It’s] in-line with the neighborhood evolution over the past 10 years.”
The Anthem, 1725 W. Division St., closed on Jan. 27 to take time to “re-concept,” according to the sports bar’s website. Eater first reported the bar’s closing.
Freiman declined to answer any further questions on the new spot.
Footman Hospitality is a Chicago-based group behind a few Northwest Side bars and restaurants: Bangers and Lace in Wicker Park; Bucktown Pub in Bucktown; Spilt Milk in Logan Square.
