ROGERS PARK — A 64-year-old man drowned in Lake Michigan just off of Pratt Pier in Rogers Park Tuesday morning, Chicago Police officials said.

The man was fishing off of the pier when he decided to go for a swim and never resurfaced, police said.

The man was identified as Croslene Kettle, 64, of the 1200 block of West North Shore Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Witnesses retrieved the man from the water at about 8:41 a.m. Tuesday and then called 911, police said. The man was pronounced dead at 9:34 a.m. at the scene, officials said.
