Feminista Jones will speak to Jamie Nesbitt Golden Wednesday.

ANDERSONVILLE — Author Feminista Jones has a new book that reveals how black women are using social media to make empower black women — one tweet at at time.

The book, “Reclaiming Our Space,” describes how black women have created movement-building hashtags like #BlackLivesMatter through social media platforms and digital communities.

Her book also explores how social media can help introduce people to important work by feminist and civil rights icons.

Jones, a social worker and community activist, was named one of the Most 100 Influential People in Philadelphia by Philadelphia Magazine in 2017.

Jones will discuss her book Tuesday in Hyde Park at 57th Street Books, 1301 E. 57th St. and Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Women & Children First, 5233 N. Clark St.

Jamie Nesbitt Golden — who is also an esteemed Twitter personality and Block Club Chicago reporter — will interview Jones during the Wednesday event.

The events are free.
