LOGAN SQUARE — A 29-year-old man with a concealed carry license shot two would-be robbers Monday night in Logan Square, police said.

The incident happened in the 2900 block of West Cortland Street next to Yates Elementary School around 9:45 p.m. Monday, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The concealed carry license holder was standing on the sidewalk when two men armed with handguns got out of a silver Nissan, police said. The men then announced a robbery, prompting the license holder to shoot both of them.

The men were taken to area hospitals. Their conditions are unknown, with police saying only that they were “stable.”

The license holder was not injured. Police said his license is valid.

One neighbor who declined to be named said she heard five shots coming from the direction of the elementary school.

Further details were not immediately available.
