NORTH SIDE — Thousands of North Side residents were without internet Monday after Comcast experienced another service disruption in Chicago.

Xfinity, the Comcast-owned internet provider, reported Monday that thousands of customers across a wide swath of the North Side were without services including wifi, cable and on-demand television, according to the company’s outage map.

Rogers Park, Logan Square, Edgewater, West Ridge, Uptown, North Park, Ukrainian Village, Lincoln Park and the Near North Side were among the neighborhoods impacted by the outages.

Less widespread outages have also been reported Downtown and on the Near West Side, according to Xfinity.

The issue was caused by damage to Xfinity’s network infrastructure in the area, according to the outage map. Service was restored to the Rogers Park area by around 5 p.m. Monday and crews are working to restore service in other areas experiencing outages, according to a Comcast spokesperson.

The North Side outage comes less than a week after a major outage on the South Side impacted Comcast customers in Bronzeville, Hyde Park, Englewood and beyond.

Last week’s outage was caused by a non-Comcast construction crew accidentally damaging Comcast fiber optic cables, a company spokesperson said.
