BUCKTOWN — A concert venue with an expansive outdoor patio will host its first shows in June — and it’s kicking things off with iconic funk ensemble Parliament Funkadelic.

Outset, 1675 N. Elston Ave., is the latest venue from Auris Presents, which runs Concord Music Hall in Logan Square and RADIUS on the Pilsen-Chinatown border.

The 750-capacity space will be around the corner from longtime Chicago venue and bar The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., and a few blocks north of the Salt Shed, 1357 N. Elston Ave., the expansive entertainment complex which opened in 2022.

Outset won zoning approval from the City Council last year to open in the building on Elston near Wabansia Avenue, which was formerly home to the nightclub Koncrete but has been vacant for almost a decade.

The venue will begin hosting shows June 1. Performers booked through 2024 include Pussy Riot, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Why? and many more.

Tickets for the first wave of show go on sale noon Friday.

“For us, music is how we make memories. We’re excited to bring more experiences, artists and moments to life as we add to the fabric of Chicago’s musical landscape for decades to come,” Auris Presents co-founder Stuart Hackley said in a statement.

Outset will include several bars plus a “wraparound” balcony level above the main concert floor. The 10,000-square-foot outdoor space will feature rotating food trucks and a bar and will host community events, according to a news release.

The venue is also situated just outside the boundaries of the proposed $6 billion Lincoln Yards site. Plans for Lincoln Yards have outlined several entertainment spaces throughout the megadevelopment, but progress on the project has stalled in recent years.
