The pop-up facility in Englewood was one of six sites that opened in May to track how the virus was moving through Chicago.

No appointments, identification or insurance are required to get tested 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday at Healthy Hood, 2242 S. Damen Ave.

Three free testing drives and a face mask giveaway are coming to Rogers Park starting this weekend.

"If you have recovered from COVID-19, this is your opportunity to help those who are still suffering," Ald. Debra Silverstein (50th) said.

The site at Studio Move Grill, 210 W. 87th St., is open seven days a week.

Most of the sites are located in neighborhoods with large Latino and Black populations, which are the communities that have been hit hardest by COVID-19 in Chicago.

"That machine is just sitting there, looking pretty," Chief Medical Officer Dr. Romeen Lavani said.

The new testing site comes as local officials try to boost free coronavirus testing in underserved neighborhoods.

Dozens of aldermen received a donation of 20,000 face masks from local businessman and ex-mayoral candidate Willie Wilson.

The postcards were made by five local artists who will receive 30 percent of the proceeds.

South Side residents who need a COVID-19 test can now receive one at two drive-thru sites.

About 30 tests a day will be available to symptomatic residents who schedule an appointment.

Antibody tests are helpful in understanding the true scope of the virus. But they are less of a priority than COVID-19 infection tests, Gov. JB Pritzker said.

The West Side hospital is now offering walk-up and drive-through testing with a 72-hour turnaround time for anybody who wants to be tested.

As of Tuesday, about half of Chicago’s 7,500 restaurants were completely closed while about 50 percent were still operating, paying their staff to cook and deliver food to customers.

Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) said she was proud of her constituents for speaking up, but she wasn't sure how the mayor would act: "We've been calling for this place to be shut down and moved for a long time."

Several hundred tests are available at Lawndale Christian Health Center and PCC Community Wellness Center each day, but you must be screened.

"It's an absolutely huge endeavor by the city to protect the city's most vulnerable," a Chicago doctor and infectious diseases expert said.

Auburn Gresham's 60620 zip code now has the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases of any Chicago zip code, with 359.
