The igloos are aimed at helping Argyle businesses attract customers during yet another pandemic winter, the chamber of commerce said.

Performances and outdoor dining will take over Argyle Street on Thursdays through September.

New outdoor dining and events spaces will come to Glenwood Avenue, Argyle Street, Jarvis Avenue and Devon Avenue as part of the city's Chicago Alfresco program.

The Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr stations will close May 16 for demolition, but temporary stations will open that day at Argyle and Bryn Mawr.

"There's been an increase in anti-Asian hate during this pandemic, and we've felt the impact of this hate," said one of Celebrate Argyle's founders. "We want to get people to come out and experience Argyle. We want people to chose hope and love over fear and hate."

The Uptown man was walking at night when he was sucker-punched by one man and stalked by another man with a bat, his daughter said.

A virtual performance will air Saturday showing cultural performances and stories of Argyle's past and present.

The street fest has been a staple of Uptown summers since 2013.
