THE LOOP — Pret A Manger, a London-based grab-and-go sandwich chain known as “Pret,” has reopened one of its Downtown stores.
The shop at 73 W. Monroe St. is open 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. It specializes in fresh, ready-made sandwiches, soups, salads and breakfast goods.
The first Chicago location of Pret A Manger opened in the Loop in 2010, and 10 other stores popped up in the city between 2010-2020, according to Eater Chicago.
The chain restructured its model during the COVID-19 pandemic and closed almost all of its Chicago locations, leaving the Pret shop on University of Chicago’s campus as the last one standing.
The company announced its intentions to reopen in the city in October on social media.
The new location includes seating for dine-in customers and wifi, and it is wheelchair accessible.
Customers can win items with their purchases next week, including tote bags, water bottles, 16-ounce drinks and baked goods. Giveaways are first come, first served while supplies last.
