PILSEN — A popular Southwest Side juice bar has closed.

Belli’s, 1850 S. Blue Island Ave., closed Wednesday, owner Alexandra Curatolo told Block Club. Curatolo said she’s leaving Chicago for personal reasons, and she decided to close Belli’s instead of selling it.

“I kind of wanted the business to die with me,” she said.

The juice bar has been a mainstay in the neighborhood since 2013. It was originally on bustling 18th Street, but it moved into a larger space on Blue Island in December.

Belli’s had a reputation of hosting community events for neighborhood groups, like meetups for Pilsen-based running group Tortugas throughout the winter.

Curatolo said she’s found a business to take over the storefront, though the details are still being worked out. It follows the same “mission” for health and wellness as Belli’s, she said.

“I really appreciate everyone’s support over the years,” Curatolo said.
