CHATHAM — A new Foot Locker store has opened on the South Side and will host community-driven programs for neighbors.

The Foot Locker at the Chatham Ridge Shopping Center, 112 W. 87th St., opened earlier this month with a two-day celebration. It’s a nearly 10,000-square-foot space.

“Love Yours,” a colorful mural created by Eddie “Edo” White, a South Side native, adorns the front of the store.

The Chatham Foot Locker plans to join forces with local organizations to host and create programs, events, workshops for neighbors of all ages at the store, store leaders said.

The national shoe and apparel retailer Foot Locker has 17 stores in Chicago, including a nearby location at 87th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. A location in Bridgeport closed during the pandemic and the chain shuttered a Howard Street store in 2015.
