RIVER NORTH — Fan favorite Levain Bakery opened its second Chicago location Friday in River North, debuting their seasonal treats ahead of other locations across the country.
The grand opening of the River North spot, 408 N. Clark St, marks the bakery’s 13th location nationwide. Levain opened its first bakery in Chicago along Fulton Market’s restaurant row in November.
“We fell in love fast with Chicago and are so excited to be able to serve more locals, as well as visitors to the city,” Levain Bakery Founders Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald said in a statement. “River North has such a great mix of residents, diners and office workers. We hope to see people stop by for dessert after an amazing dinner, a midday work break, or before taking a stroll along the river.”

The chain started in 1995 under owners Weekes and McDonald, who have made a name for themselves with their crispy-on-the-outside, super-gooey-on-the-inside cookies.
Levain Bakery has seven classic flavors of cookies including chocolate chip walnut, dark chocolate chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, dark chocolate peanut butter chip, two chip chocolate chip, a gluten-free and vegan chocolate chip walnut, and most recently, caramel coconut chocolate chip.
Additionally, there will be a fall chocolate chunk cookie with ginger, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon and marbled with melty Valrhona dark chocolate. For the pumpkin spice girlies, there’s a pumpkin ginger spice cake.
Levain Bakery in River North will be open 8 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
