THE LOOP — Chicagoans have their shot to see “Hamilton” for its second time around — and can possibly score a revolutionary discount for it.

The hit musical is returning to Chicago for a second run starting Sept. 13 and lasting through the end of the year at the James M. Nederlander Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St., according to Broadway in Chicago.

“Hamilton” — created by playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda and based on Ron Chernow’s biography of founding father Alexander Hamilton — ran in Chicago for over three years and had its final curtain call on Jan. 5, 2020, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic put the kibosh on shows across the world.

This time around, “Hamilton” will be at the Nederlander, a larger venue with 2,253 seats compared to 1,800 seats at the CIBC Theatre, its original Chicago home.

A digital lottery for $10 discounted tickets is now underway, and will open every Friday morning and close the following Thursday for each week’s performances. Schedules and directions to join the lottery can be found here. Each winner can purchase up to two tickets. The discount tickets will be limited to 36 tickets each performance.

The play will feature the national touring cast of “Hamilton,” who are different actors from the first Chicago company, according to the Tribune.
