ROGERS PARK — One of the neighborhood’s biggest summer events returns this weekend with an art market and live music.
The Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest opens Friday in the 6900-7000 block of North Glenwood Avenue and the 1300-1500 block of West Morse Avenue near the Morse Red Line station.
It runs 6-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday.
This year’s event will include an art fair, more than 30 musical acts, kids’ art activities, live arts demonstrations plus food and drinks.
The theme of this year’s festival is “world music,” according to the Rogers Park Business Alliance. Friday will be music-heavy, with two stages featuring groups like Lucy Smith Quartet and the Rogers Park-based Urban Rhythm Band.
Saturday and Sunday will feature the outdoor art market with more than 120 artist vendors, plus music and a kids’ tent.
New this year is a second food court near the east stage, which is being added to accommodate two more vendors.
Now in its 22nd year, the free festival is a showcase for the Glenwood Avenue Arts District, home to multiple murals, public art installations and beloved local businesses. The festival attracts an estimated 15,000 people annually to Glenwood Avenue, the business alliance said.
The Fest is organized and managed by the Glenwood Avenue Arts District, a local nonprofit. For more on the Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest, click here.
