DOWNTOWN — A slate of road closures and parking restrictions in and around Grant Park are going into effect Saturday leading up to the July 1-2 NASCAR race.

Parking restrictions already began last week along Columbus Drive between Jackson and Balbo drives. This weekend, part of Ida B. Wells Drive will close for organizers to begin setup.

More roads will close leading up to the race with the most significant restrictions coming June 25, city officials have said. Roads will gradually reopen in the two weeks following the event.

The biggest disruption will be June 28, when southbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive will close between Randolph Street and McFetridge Road — south of Roosevelt Road. The lanes won’t reopen until July 4, Crain’s reported.
